An American hero and Congressional Gold Medal recipient, M. Meredith Beal was 93 years old and lived a great life of service, humility and humanity. He was an original Montford Point Marine, the first African Americans to serve in the Marine Corps, and he was THE first African American to work at Marine Corps Hdqt. He was one of the fastest typists in the world (over 100 wpm on a manual typewriter), and was married for 63 years.
