Music enthusiasts, let’s take a trip down memory lane with the legendary track “Who Knows” by Jimi Hendrix. This song is known for being the opening track on the Jimi Hendrix album “Band of Gypsys”, which featured Hendrix, Buddy Miles, and Billy Cox. The band made its only public appearances during a four-show debut at the Fillmore East on Dec. 31, 1969, and Jan. 1, 1970, making it a historic moment in music history.
Although “Who Knows” was played a couple of times during those performances, its identity comes from the nine-minute, Buddy Miles-improvised scat version that is found on the Band of Gypsys album. The history and recordings of those New Year’s Eve performances have been ideally preserved, allowing music lovers to relive that magical moment in time with two wonderful recent releases – the remastered original “Band of Gypsys” in 1997, and Live at the Fillmore East in 1999.
We’re excited to announce that the talented musician and producer Cory Clark is on board to help create an incredible sonic texture for our remake of “Who Knows.” Cory’s expertise in electric and acoustic guitars, BGVS/harmony/lead vocals, bass, programmed drums, synths, and full-on producing means we have everything we need to make this production a true masterpiece.
Cory is passionate about making creative and melodic parts that complement and elevate the song. He understands that the sound and tone of those parts are equally important, and he is committed to creating the ultimate sonic experience for our project. With his experience in co-producing, engineering, and working on music for film and video, he is well-equipped to bring out the best in our production.
